Exercise bands are elastic strips, latex or latex-free, that add light resistance to home exercises; each color means a different strength. At the Padda Institute in St. Louis we hand them out for the band exercises your physician checks, and show you how to anchor and inspect them.
Your physician orders this equipment as part of our physician-directed physiotherapy program. We fit it, coach you through using it, and send you home with the steps in writing.
Stretchy bands, latex or latex-free, used for your home exercises. Each color stands for a different strength.
They add light resistance, so your muscles grow stronger while you heal, without heavy weights.
Even tension as you move. Go slowly both ways and never let the band snap back.
Secure the band under your foot, or in a shut door on its hinge side. Look it over for nicks or sticky spots before every use, and throw it out if you find any. Keep it away from heat and direct sun. If your skin itches, breaks out or gets hives where the band touches, stop and call.
Use it only for the exercises your physician checked.
Before you head home, you demonstrate that you can put it on, work it and remove it. Call (314) 481-5000 if it causes pain, fits wrong or stops working.
Show us you have it: Do one band exercise for us before you go home. If any part is unclear, ask, and we will walk through it again at your next visit.
